Program Title:

Exploring the Outdoors with WSU’s Outdoor Resource Center

Description:
The Outdoor Resource Center provides great opportunities for people to enjoy the outdoors through trips, clinics, events, and their very own Climbing Tower and Low Ropes Course. While the Outdoor Resource Center focuses on providing opportunities to WSU students, faculty, staff, and alumni association members, they also provide opportunities to the public through their Rental Program. Come learn how you can get involved in activities ranging from local kayak clinics and Grand Canyon Backpacking Trips to signing your group up for the Challenge Course.

Biography:

Being born and raised in the country, the outdoors has been, is, and always will be a huge part of Rachel Brand’s life.  Horseback riding, rollerblading, kayaking, rock climbing, and backpacking are just a few of her favorite things to do in the outdoors.  More importantly, she loves to share the outdoors with others which is what being a Trip Leader and Student Manager of the Outdoor Resource Center has allowed her to do.  Her most memorable trips are leading the FOOT trips in 2005 & 2006 and leading the Grand Canyon Backpacking Trip during Spring Break in 2006.  In addition to being an outdoors, country-loving girl, Rachel is a junior in the Early Childhood Education program at Wright State.

Imagine yourself at the top of a 50-foot tower that you just climbed.  You are dangling in your harness being cheered on by your group members. If you would look down you would see me holding your lifeline. My name is Annica Saunders, and I am the Student Manager for the Wright State Challenge Course.   I have been working on challenge courses since 2002 when I became a camp councilor at Joy Outdoor Education Center (a.k.a. Camp Joy.) I started working for Wright State last winter and love what I do!
