Program Title:

Willmore Horseback Adventure

Description:

Nine-year-old twins, Emily and Jessica joined four hikers, seven wranglers and their grandfather on a 16-day horseback adventure in the Canadian Rocky Mountains of Alberta, Canada.  The Wild Rose Outfitters used 24 pack horses and 10 riding horses to take them deep into the 2,000 square mile Willmore wilderness park which is without roads, bridges, houses or permanent residents, just trails.

They camped at six remote sites high in the Rocky Mountains.  A sugarcoating of frost covered their tent each morning.  During the day, they rode over snow-covered mountain passes, through virgin spruce forests, across rain-swollen rivers and along knife-edge ridges to see some of the most spectacular wilderness country in the world.

When Emily and Jessica weren’t on horseback they were wading in the creek, chasing butterflies, shooting at tin cans with their slingshots, fishing, roasting marshmallows, reading stories, making dream catchers or looking for fossils.

Biography:

Emily and Jessica accomplished their first adventure when they were 2 years old, traveling in a twin-jogger 136 miles around the perimeter of Oahu, Hawaii.  Since then they have driven dogsleds across Colorado, bicycled across Sweden, chased polar bears in the Arctic, ridden camels in Australia, kayaked the Arctic Ocean around Iceland, walked Hadrian’s Wall across England, skied the Andes of Argentina, canoed the Boundary Waters of Minnesota and ridden horseback in the Canadian Rockies.  The twins are currently 14 years old
